Filipe Ferreira dos Santos
Filipe is graduated in Biological Sciences (bachelor) from the Federal University of Sao Paulo (UNIFESP; 2012-2016) with a period studying abroad at University of Cincinnati (UC; 2015-2016) through the Brazilian Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP), supported by the Institute of International Education (IIE) and Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES). During this stage, he gained experience in the molecular basis of thyroid cancer, bioinformatics and infectious diseases (Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center - CCHMC).
He also completed his Master Degree in Bioinformatics with Dr. Pedro A.F. Galante by the "Ciências da Saúde" program at the Instituto de Ensino e Pesquisa - Hospital Sírio-Libanês (IEP-HSL; 2017-2019), where he studied the intratumoral genetic heterogeneity of tumors and the applicability of this feature into clinics.
Currently, Filipe is a Ph.D student in the Group of Bioinformatics led by Dr. Pedro A.F. Galante, which is part of the Molecular Oncology Center (MOC) at IEP-HSL, by the Biochemistry program at the Chemistry Institute in University of Sao Paulo (IQ-USP). He is involved in projects (from the group and in collaboration with others) related to alternative splicing, gene expression, membrane proteins, translational research, and the development of some group's tools and databases.
